Father Samuel Aririatu

Nationality: Nigerian.
Education: Primary education commenced from St Joseph's Primary School, Umualumaku, Ehime and St Christopher's primary school, Umueze11 all in Ehime Mbano LGA; Imo Nigeria.

I had my secondary education 1965-71 at Immaculate Conception Seminary Umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria. The Nigerian civil war interrupted the journey and during the civil war the Seminary took refuge in different towns in the then Republic of Biafra. When the civil war ended in 1970, the Seminary journey continued once more with the return of the remnant of the Seminarians to the permanent site.

After my training in philosophy and theology in Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu and St Augustine's Major Seminary Jos, both in Nigeria, I was ordained a Catholic priest on May 26, 1979 for the Catholic Diocese of Minna, Nigeria. Since ordination, I have served my diocese at different levels, as associate pastor, pastor, and vocation director. Also I have served the diocese in other numerous positions including as a chaplain to different groups in the church and institutions of higher learning.

My academic journey in the US started 2000 at from Los Angeles California and I moved to Fordham University 2001-2003. While on academic journey, I also served at St Mary Magdalen Church, Los Angeles, 2000-2001 and Immaculate Conception Church, Amenia 2001-2003. I joined the Diocese of Rockville Centre December 2003. Presently, I am a chaplain at St Charles and Mather Hospitals, Port Jefferson Station. I am in residence at the Church of the Infant Jesus.
