Faith and Light is an International Organization found in 1971, that now has chapters in countries all around the world. Its mission is to help people with intellectual disabilities and their families find their place within the church and society. A Faith and Light community brings together people with intellectual disabilities, their families, and their friends. They meet once a month for gathering of friendship and sharing, celebration and prayer, and of course, refreshments! All are welcome! 

For people with disabilities, Faith and Light reveals to them their call to show us in a new way the good news of Jesus Christ, as announced to the poor and the little ones, through their gifts of the heart and their joyfulness. For parents, Faith and Light offers acceptance, support, and an appreciation of their children's inner beauty and ability to contribute to the church community. For friends, Faith and Light opens up a path of friendship and commitment with the members who have disabilities, whereby each one discovers in the other the presence of the risen Jesus. 

The Infant Jesus chapter of Faith and Light meets on the 4th Tuesday of every month from April to December in the lower church. The meetings are in the evening from 6:30pm to 8pm. Currently there are 22 active adult members. We also have special celebrations throughout the year, including a Christmas party, a summer picnic, and an occasional trip to the Shrine of Our Lady of Long Island.

Meb, a member of a Faith and Light community, created a simple painting that became the Faith and Light logo. He drew a boat with twelve figures. Jesus was sleeping somewhere in the bottom of the boat. He put sun and clouds in his painting.

Meb’s explanation of the logo is that we are all in a boat and we are traveling together. Sometimes the sea is rough, sometimes it is calm, sometimes you need to row and sometimes the wind blows the sails.

He wrote a prayer to accompany the logo: “The clouds parted and your light, Oh Lord, shone down upon us.”
