The Diocese of Rockville Centre has developed a Public Policy Education Network through Catholic Charities.  It has established a link to each parish through their Outreach Programs, Peace and Justice Committee, or Common Good Committee.  One of the many reasons these committees were started was to bring community related issues to the people and encourage them to become involved.

Infant Jesus established the Committee for the Common Good more than a dozen years ago through the efforts of a former pastor, Msgr. Denis Reagan.  This committee organized the first International Food Festival which has since become a yearly celebration.  During the past year, the Committee has presented a conference on violence and a presentation of a film series concerning such issues as forced child labor and extreme poverty in underdeveloped countries.  The Committee has arranged for the Infant Jesus Centennial Lecture Series with prominent individuals speaking on issues of universal peace and justice.

We hope to gain the interest and participation of our parishioners in the scheduled events and in the work towards establishing an active social justice conscience.

            Commitment:  Members attend and participate in scheduled meetings, actively assist in planning, organizing and implementing all programs, take a leadership role when appropriate, and work as an individual and a team member.  Meetings are announced in the bulletin.
